Solar Eclipse Family Picnic at Boston Castle

On Wednesday 12th August a 90% solar eclipse will be visible in Rotherham. This is the most complete eclipse visible in the UK since August 1999. The next comparable event will be in 2081. So bring a picnic tea to Boston Castle at 6pm on 12th August and join with others in experiencing this rare event. The eclipse will be due between 7-7.20pm. We have 50 ISO certified solar eclipse glasses available to aid the experience.

Update- 10-8-26. We are now fully booked with 50 people wanting to attend so we wont have enough eclipse glasses for everyone to have a pair. Do not look at the sun directly. Alternative viewing aid is a kitchen colander held up with your back to the sun and projecting an image onto a piece of white paper.

13-8-26 What an evening! Over 200 people joined in so we had to share out the specs one per family group. Childrens crafts were much appreciated and every family received a leaflet linking the Eclipse to reflections from Psalm 8 and John 1.
