In the month of May in the circuit we were focusing on the ‘challenge’ station in the `Methodist way of life’ and how we challenge injustice.

God is a liberator, God always takes the side of people experiencing poverty and we are called to do the same. Methodists are working for justice through responding to needs and campaigning for change – At our Family Fun Church services we looked at how families can get involved and how our congregations are working to challenge injustice!

At Broom Methodist Church, we were led in a service focusing on Christian Aid and how we can support Christian Aid week. Many of our Churches in the Circuit have been working towards raising money and awareness for poverty. This is something we commit to yearly and we wanted to explore this further at FFC. All of the children and young people got involved in making a banner that reflected our commitment as a circuit which said ‘ LETS ALL END POVERTY ! ‘ – It was so encouraging to see everyone play their part in raising awareness and challenging injustice.

Later in the month we met at Central Methodist Church! In this service we focused on what ways we can raise awareness as a church, family and community. We started by sharing what concerns we had for our world and what we want to pray for – followed by examples of how we can challenge this: An example would be, coffee mornings for churches and community hubs, litter picks in local areas or having bake sales in schools. Our young people had plenty more ideas and even stories to share on how they were already working to challenge injustice. I was extremely proud of them for speaking up and being the voice of change and challenge in our community.

In the month of June, we will be focusing on the ‘care’ station – if you would like to join us or get involved our next FFC services will be:

Family Fun Church at Broom on the 2nd June at 11am running till 2.30pm.
Family Fun Church at Central will be on the 21st June at 5.30pm running till 7pm.
